California
3,400 miles later...we made it to California! We arrived this past Tuesday and unpacked the u-haul, went to Monterey and the aquarium, and spent a great day in SF.

Utah
We went into Grand Canyon again yesterday (couldn't get enough) and then drove to Utah and visited Zion National Park. Today we hiked in Bryce Canyon - the best yet! The pictures speak for themselves.

Grand Canyon
We spent a long day driving from Santa Fe to Flagstaff and then north to the Grand Canyon. Despite being exhausted we went to the South Rim, watched a beautiful sunset, and went to a Grand Canyon Star Party where we saw Saturn through someone's very high-tech telescope, rings and all. It was a very good end to the day.
Santa Fe
We ended up spending two nights in Santa Fe. We visited the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, the oldest house in the US and the Loretto Chapel that has the 'miraculous staircase'.
The Miraculous Staircase, which legend says was constructed or inspired by St. Joseph the Carpenter, was built sometime between 1877 and 1881. It took at least six months to build, and has two 360 degree turns with no visible means of support.
We also had a great time eating and shopping here!
Next destination: Arizona and Grand Canyon National Park.

Taos Pueblo, New Mexico
We went to Taos Pueblo, in northern New Mexico today. There are multi-storied adobe buildings that have been inhabited for over 1000 years.
Now we're in Santa Fe, which we will explore more tomorrow. So far, we LOVE New Mexico!

Colorado
We visited Colo Springs yesterday and saw the Garden of the Gods...very nice! Bright red rock over 250 million years old! We also saw Pikes Peak...maybe we'll climb it another time.
We are now in New Mexico, hanging out in Taos. The town is all adobe buildings....even the McDonald's. We plan on heading to Santa Fe this evening and will be posting more pictures.

Great Plains
We've made it to Nebraska so far. Illinois and Indiana went quickly, but Iowa and Nebraska are endless. Iowa's welcome sign proclaimed 'Fields of Opportunity' ...but all we saw was corn.
We'll be heading to Colorado tomorrow and then New Mexico.
